Episode 11: Brooke Jones

One of my favorite things is when you share a chapter of life with someone and you are so close for this very specific period of time. And you know you’ll always have this little pocket of time with all of these experiences that not a lot of other people would get or understand. There’s something so special about that. It bonds you forever, and although you may not be as close to that person (or people), the closeness you once shared always exists and leaves you feeling like you can always ‘pick up right where you left off’ no matter how much time passes. There’s something so beautiful about that!

Anyway, that was a really long-winded way of introducing Brooke — a gem that I used to sit 3 feet apart from at work for over a year. We’ve remained close in our 20’s and 30’s and I’ll never forget her phone call when I was 3 weeks postpartum and I hadn’t talked to her in years. It was so comforting and life-giving. We shared having baby boys a little over 3 months apart, and she is one of the first people who taught me what it really means to show up for new mamas.

In todays’ episode we talk about:

  • “The invisible network you never knew you had.” Aka mom friends.

  • Nourishing and trusting your body during pregnancy and postpartum

  • Adjusting to your new life as a mom

  • The gift of having a doula

  • Nursing and weaning

  • …and so much more!
