Episode 16: Jessie Gardner

Jessie is one of the most special humans I’ve ever met. She’s full of love and light and wisdom and perspective and, well, she is just a treasure. We met in San Diego thanks to our mutual friend, Kelli, and spent several years as a soulful little trio doing all sorts of manifesting and masterminding. I like to think our meeting was absolutely kismet. While we no longer live near each other we are connected from afar, and I’m so grateful Jessie came on to share all of her wisdom with us.

We dive into:

  • The importance of friendship especially for new mamas

  • Jessie’s birth (+postpartum) experience 3x over and listening to how you want to birth

  • Teaching your children intuition and to be themselves

  • What she’s learning from her girls — ages 7, 4, and 2

  • The great mother: Mother Earth and living close to her

  • The golden thread of connection between you and your children

  • …And so much more!

We ran out of time so I didn’t get to ask Jessie 2 of the 3 questions we ask every guest, so she was kind enough to send over her answers:

Q: What is one thing that took you by surprise or you feel like no one ever talked about that you learned was part of being a mom?

A: What took me by surprise is just how critical support around you is when you are a mom. I thought I could do it all, but turns out, we are not meant to do this alone or hold it all.

Q: Take yourself back to the early days of having Kennedy, if you could give that first-time mom version of you one piece of advice, what would it be?

A: The one piece of advice I would give new mamas is that the version of momming that feels right for you, is the true and right way. The most important filter on all the ways to mother, feed, teach, love your baby, is your intuition. Listen inward and operate from that knowing.

Also, we mention this book ‘100 Hours Outside’ for any mamas who are interested!

After we recorded, Jessie sent me this song with beautiful lyrics that felt connected to what we discussed in the episode.
